Anisha Asadollahi, a teacher, translator, and trade union and labor activist, was released from Evin Prison on Friday, February 20, after completing her three-year prison sentence without even a single day of furlough.
On May 9, 2022, following International Workers' Day, Ministry of Intelligence agents arrested Anisha Asadollahi and her husband Keyvan Mehdi, along with a number of other labor activists and teachers—including Reza Shahabi, Hassan Saeedi, and Davoud Razavi, three members of the Bus Workers' Syndicate, as well as Rasoul Bodaghi, Souran Lotfi, and Jafar Ebrahimi—during a fabricated security case triggered by the visit of Cecile Kohler and Jacques Paris, two French trade unionists.
Mehdi and Asadollahi were sentenced to six years and five years and eight months in prison, respectively, on charges of "assembly and collusion against national security" and "propaganda against the regime."
