«Very Painful» Images of Al-Ghadir Hospital Are «Authentic»

Hossein Kermanpour, Head of the Public Relations and Information Center of the Ministry of Health, said that the images published on social media from the Al-Ghadir Charity Hospital are "not far from reality."
Mr. Kermanpour described these images as "very painful" and stated that they are "authentic." These images show bodies wrapped in blankets in an alley near Tehran's Al-Ghadir Hospital.
Shargh newspaper wrote in a report: "Right in the midst of the fortieth day memorials for the victims of the January 2026 protests, the release of shocking images from Tehran's Al-Ghadir Hospital once again wounded the feelings of the Iranian people."
Shargh's report describes the situation around Hengam Boulevard and Al-Ghadir Square on the night of January 8.
Mr. Kermanpour told Shargh newspaper: "Al-Ghadir Square was one of the crowded spots on the night of January 8. For this very reason, many people were brought from that spot to the nearest medical center in the vicinity, which naturally turned out to be Al-Ghadir Hospital."
Consequently, "a small hospital faced a massive wave of the injured and the dead. According to reports we received, about 150 injured people referred to this hospital, and the bodies of 36 deceased individuals were also brought here. This is while Al-Ghadir Hospital's morgue has a capacity of only five bodies. The deceased were subsequently transferred from there to Kahrizak."
Shargh's report described some of the published images from this hospital, including an image in which "one can even see the face of one of these bodies: Aida Aghili, a young girl who perhaps had not yet pressed the face of love to her chest. She lies so peacefully and brightly as if the world is still flowing in the beating of her breath."
