Mai Sato: Iran must clarify the status of the disappeared and killed of the دی (Dey) protests

Mai Sato, the UN Human Rights Council's Special Rapporteur, has called on the Islamic Republic of Iran to declare the fate and whereabouts of individuals who were arrested, disappeared, or killed following the nationwide protests.
She stated that, alongside UN human rights experts, she is also urging Iranian authorities to halt all executions related to these protests.
According to some reports from Iran, a number of families have stated that after their loved ones participated in the protests, they have been unaware of their fate, whether they are alive and imprisoned or killed, and have failed to receive a definitive response from the government.
Some unverified reports have also been published regarding the secret execution of arrested protesters.
Ms. Sato said: "The discrepancy between official statistics and grassroots estimates only adds to the suffering of families who are searching for their loved ones. In the absence of transparency, a devastating narrative takes shape with unverified reports about burial sites and secret executions."
