The Bidarzani website is the media outlet of a group of feminist activists who work to raise public awareness about gender equality, intersectional oppressions, and the struggles of the women's movement and other social movements.
History
The Bidarzani website was previously launched under the title 'Towards Equal Family Law' by a collective of feminist activists in the winter of 2010. In the spring of 2014, after five years of gaining experience, we decided to change the name from 'Towards Equal Family Law'—which did not reflect all the group's goals—to 'Bidarzani'. This term expresses our aspiration to awaken society to gender discrimination and women's issues.
Goals
The main goal of Bidarzani is to 'raise public awareness regarding gender discrimination and the realization of women's rights. We believe that, accordingly, the specific goals of this website are:
- Promoting gender equality and justice
- Raising awareness about discriminatory laws and the necessity of changing them
- Raising awareness about the nature of violence against women and promoting solutions to combat it
- Raising awareness regarding health, sexual, and reproductive rights
- Raising awareness about the struggles of the women's movement and other social movements against poverty, inequality, and structural violence of the website
