The Progressive Iranians Party is a political and program-oriented institution formed to organize democratic action toward Iran's transition to a secular, law-abiding, and accountable government. We believe that the method of transition is as important as its destination; transition without public participation, without guarantees of rights, and without democratic institution-building and organization can lead to the reproduction of authoritarianism in a new form. This party understands political freedoms in connection with social justice and emphasizes the rule of law, the separation and balance of powers, the decentralization of power, and the guarantee of the fundamental rights of all citizens (and non-citizens). We present programs to reduce inequality, strengthen labor rights, achieve gender equality, ensure regional justice, and expand equal opportunities, and we demand a transparent and accountable government that guarantees quality public services and effective social support for all. The Progressive Iranians Party is in its founding stage, and its white paper outlines the framework of principles and strategic orientations for this path. The Preparatory Council invites all concerned Iranians to participate in building a modern, responsible, and sustainable party to achieve democracy in Iran and to build a free, just, and equal future for all its citizens.
